Since the day it has been setup it has just worked, plain and simple, the range is absolutely wonderful and if you don't look you won't know it's there. The router's all black design with the sleek blue lights make it very subtle dare I say with a router this sleek you may want to make it a part of your decor instead of trying to hide it. All in all I bought one for myself and ended up buying another for a friend I find myself now wondering if anyone else would like a gift like this I love it !!! One unit failed after several years in service but other than that they have performed very well. Until I bought this POS. As I type this review my laptop is on a wooden table 25 feet from the router, which is on a wooden desk. We are the only 2 wireless devices for miles. The signal strength fluctuates constantly. It is impossible to run a VPN, it drops every minute or two. Consulting the manual, updating the firmware, changing the settings, visiting the linksys support areas were all futile. The story is always the same - easy to set up, impossible to make it work reliably. Linksys apparently can't be bothered - there is no evidence of so much as an acknowledgment of the problem, much less an attempt to remedy it. I am extremely disappointed in Linksys and as a result of my experience with this product I will be buying another wireless router - any brand but Linksys! Please try again later. From the United StatesWe have many devices on our home network, from slingboxes to Xboxes, to computers running four different operating systems, this router runs them all very well. Initially there was a problem when a laptop running Vista tried connecting to the router, it turned out that it was an issue with Vista, and it was shutting down the functionality of the router and it would need to be restarted. By simply unchecking a single box on the laptops' wireless networking card options the whole thing worked fine, and has worked fine ever since.

While I don't know why this happens, at least it wasn't a catastrophic problem, and the router is great now. Please try again later. Please try again later. Catfish John 1.0 out of 5 stars For a few months, I had absolutely no problem. After a while, I would lose connection sometimes and I had to power the router off and on to reset the router. The past month or so, I find myself powering the unit off and on at least four times a week, and sometimes twice a day. I've given up and I just ordered a router from a different company. Please try again later. Please try again later. 2Hyper 3.0 out of 5 stars Super easy to hook up to the computer with the software. With the Linksys RangePlus Wireless Router at the center of your home or office network, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, printers, and multi-player games, and run media-intensive applications at incredible speeds, without the hassle of stringing wires!First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. Finally, the router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. The access point built into the router uses smart antenna technology to achieve extended range. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections much farther than standard Wireless-G. With MIMO, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. It works great with standard Wireless-G and -B equipment, but when both ends of the wireless link are MIMO enabled, the router can increase the throughput even more by using twice as much radio band. But unlike other speed-enhanced technologies, the RangePlus Wireless Router can dynamically enable this double-speed mode for compatible devices, while still connecting to other wireless devices at their respective fastest speeds. To help protect your data and privacy, the router can encode all wireless transmissions with industrial-strength 256-bit encryption. It can serve as your network's DHCP server, has a powerful SPI firewall to protect your PCs against intruders and most known Internet attacks, and supports VPN pass-through. Configuration is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility. Derek 3.0 out of 5 stars However, if let's say, the router is in the basement, and a laptop is in a second floor bedroom, then you'll run into major problems. The connection will be weak, on and off, and it becomes frustrating to use. I would recommend it for its excellent short range capabilities, but if you plan on using your laptop all over the house, well then this might not be the best choice. One unit failed after several years in service but other than that they have performed very well. I am extremely disappointed in Linksys and as a result of my experience with this product I will be buying another wireless router - any brand but Linksys!Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again This is the second WRT110 I have purchased, the first was for my parent's and for them it has been great. We have a VoIP system too that is connected directly, along with 3 laptops over wireless and a tower hard-wired. Yet this device cannot do the job. Yes, those are many devices connected but they are not connected all the time, maybe 1 or 2 are at a given time and the house phone doesn't get used much. I've updated the firmware as many recommended but it is still the same thing. Now I've reset the router and set it to the factory default. I've read reviews that laud this device, but I've read reviews from many people who have nothing but distain for it after their experience. I will give this one more try and then I will return it for something straight forward that can do what it promises. Lastly, this should've been an omen when the software that came with it stated that there wasn't an Ethernet cable attached on the tower. Factory default did nothing and it still doesn't recognise that an cable is connected. If you get this router and it works for you then you are a lucky individual, but if you have issues from the onset then return it immediately to save yourself a future headache and frustration. My recommendation would be the D-Link DIR 655 as people I know who have it are quite happy with it. Come on Cisco, I expected more from you.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again I anticipated at least a half an hour setup to get it up and running as my previous router required some configuring. This Router took no more than 10 minutes to setup this is including WPA2 security and all. Please try again The router is located about 75 feet from the desktop PC in the office. As others have noted, check to see if the router you buy has the current firmware. I was surprised to find it did not. I discovered that when I was trying to troubleshoot why the internet connection was flaky. Updating the firmware solved the problem quickly and I was good to go. Simply installing the WRT110 increased signal strength on all three of my PCs by a good 20% over the 54G. Stick with the Windows network manager interface to connect to the router. Unfortunately the signal I got in the new office was still just barely adequate. It has been one bar and now I got two. I was looking for better than fair coverage. My backup plan was to also replace the PCs USB WiFi receiver (an old Belkin model), if required, so that was step two. I bought a refurbished RangePlus adapter (WUSB100) that Linksys says is the best mate for this router. The adapter installed without problems on a PC running Vista SP2 32-bit. It provided the improvement I was looking for. I went from two bars to four, slipping back to three once in a while. Note that both the router and adapter are directionally sensitive, so try orienting them different ways to get the best results. I found moving the router up higher in the room helped a lot too. As did using the adapter stand to mount the adapter on the desk, rather than inserting it directly into a USB port on the PC, which is at floor level. I considered going to 802.

11N, but decided against it because I really don't need the speed gain, the N router and adapter are more expensive and I'd need to invest in new WiFi adapters for all three computers, not just one. I bought the router through Amazon, as it had the best price. Got the refurb adapter through eBay.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Needless to say, this new router was quite the improvement. I have never had a problem connecting, or staying connecting, with my laptop several rooms away. All I really needed was an occasional wireless transmitter. Even with all the security features, I know that no wireless transmitter can be 100% secure. Plus we are not convinced that sending a wireless signal through the house is completely safe health-wise, especially when this router has to sit on a shelf at head level in the room where I spend most of my time. I prefer doing most of my computer work on a desktop computer anyway, and only rarely need to connect with my laptop in another room. So I just wanted a wireless transmitter on the rare occasions when I use my laptop. I could not find a wireless router that has the option to turn off the transmitter, or at least one that listed that capability. So my network is made up of two routers. I have a wired router for a couple of our home desktop computers. I then plug this wireless router into the wired router only when I want to use the wireless connection for my laptop. Otherwise the wireless router is unplugged. This works great for my purposes. It took quite awhile to set up, though it connected easily the first time. For some reason, the software that came with it, Linksys Adviser, for managing your computer network was very slow to install. Plus, after the software was installed, over the next couple of weeks it kept notifying me that I needed to get the updates for the software, even after I downloaded and installed the latest updates.

I couldn't find any way to get it to stop telling me that I needed updates. So finally I uninstalled the Linksys Adviser software. The router continues to work just fine without that software. Plus, I really don't need it for managing my network anyway, as it is really my wired router, not this wireless router, that controls my network. So I thought the router itself is great. But I found the software to be lousy and unneeded.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again.
